What Is Love? Video Response from My Darling Daughter, Age 5

What is love? You could ask one hundred people and probably get one hundred different answers. For me, feelings are difficult to explain. Since I don't have a great answer, I asked my five year old daughter to tell me what she thinks love is:

Review: We were thrilled when our package of Toggle Bandz arrived. Amanda sent three of same cheer leader themed bands and a cute brown and pink polka dot band. I really wanted the pink/brown band for myself  because (a)it was cute and (b) I have crazy fine, thin hair and have a hard time finding any hair accessories that work. My daughter wanted all the bands of course but I was able to try on and wear the pink/brown one for a few hours the next day and I loved it. It didn't slide around and my hair stayed in place. I have a problem with hair accessories letting my hair slide out within minutes and the Toggle Band didn't do that. It really just stayed put, kept my hair out of my eyes and I forgot that I was wearing it, which is rare for me when wearing a headband.

My daughter has fine hair but it is thick. We have a hard time finding headbands that will keep her hair in place - very similar to the problem that I have. Again, the Toggle Band held her hair in place and stayed put. She loves the cheer leader band and the pink and brown polka dot band and has looked over the choices available on Toggle Bandz site and has picked out a few more for herself! I think that these would be FANTASTIC gifts to give out to the other cheer leaders on her squad. They are also great for Easter basket fillers and gifts for Valentine's Day. What Valentines Day Means To Me

When I was a child, Valentines Day meant getting the little cards and candies from kids at school. Then, as a teenager, it meant(if I didn't have a boyfriend) praying that someone would send me something - anything - so that I wasn't the only one of my friends to go home empty handed. Then as I became an adult, I didn't care about it really. In my twenties, I almost always had a boyfriend on Valentine's Day and I would get roses and a gift of jewelry or chocolates - but I thought it was all kind of silly. Well I said that but I am pretty sure that had I not received something, I would have been pretty angry. I did get some pretty great gifts - but NONE of them compare to the scribblings and splashes of color, dotted with random stickers and glitter glue that adorned the handmade card I received last year from my little girl.

So now I have a child. Even though I'm a single mom and Valentine's Day would be just another day to me normally, I know that it means something to her. It means that she gets the chance to make cards for her parents and grandparents, it means that she will get a gift from me and probably gifts from a few other family members. It means she will receive some cute little cards from her friends-it is important to me that gets every bit of enjoyment she can from this day and every day. Later in life, I know that I will be stressing over the pressure she feels to have a boyfriend and the embarrassment that comes from going home without a Valentine - good grief I dread those days! 

Her Valentine's Day Crush

For now, since she's only 5 and I won't be worrying about boys this year, we will make goody bags for the  girls on her cheer leading squad. I will put her in a cute little Valentines Day outfit and take pictures to send family and friends. I will buy her something she wants and let her know that I love her more than anything!

So I guess, in short, Valentine's Day now means making my daughter happy. That really isn't different from the rest of the year but I will do something special for her on Valentine's Day. I will make it a day to remember - or I will try to at least. Later on, I will make sure that I do everything I can to keep her from getting her feelings hurt. I will work hard to teach her what's really important in life -and that a rose from some "twerp" once a year really isn't.

We received a set of Gaddy Nipper Crayons that spelled out my daughter's name. They were swirled and so cute. Each letter had a little design on it. They are very durable -she is hard on crayons and normally breaks them within one use but we have used these many, many times and they still look almost like they did the day we got them.  
I love that the crayons are thick and easy to grip. We choose the set of swirled crayons instead of solid colors and they are very pretty. I kind of wish we'd have gotten the solid colors though because my daughter gets aggravated when she's trying to color something pink and it gets a big yellow streak across it but she's a little compulsive about her coloring!
