I love rebates because they are money I am getting back for a product that I was going to buy anyway. When combined with sales and coupons, after rebate I normally get the product not only for free but I make a profit! In 2 weeks I received a $10 gift card rebate from Swiffer (I made money on this deal), $15 in checks from SC Johnson - also a money maker and earlier in the month $10 from Kraft which was a big money maker since they sent me lots of coupons for free products. The best thing to do is get a binder and save all your receipts because you never know which company will offer a rebate for a product you have already purchased. There are rules to rebates though: 9 times out of 10 you need to send the original receipt. If you know you are going to buy items that you plan to send off for rebate, purchase them on a separate transaction or ask the cashier before she starts ringing up if they offer extra receipts in case you are buying items that are for two different rebates. I missed out on a great money making rebate because I didn't do separate transactions at CVS. They do send duplicate receipts but it didn't get here in time. It only takes a minute to fill out a rebate form, attach upc codes and mail off for your product.
